About The Position

Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) is seeking Approval Specialist II Representatives to join their Financial Support Services Team in Hampton, VA. This role assists patients telephonically in a patient-centric environment, focusing on helping individuals suffering from life-threatening or debilitating illnesses. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with 4 days remote and 1 day in the Hampton, VA office (Wednesday is the core day). PAF is a national non-profit dedicated to solving insurance and healthcare problems for Americans with chronic, life-threatening, and debilitating illnesses since 1996.

Requirements

A true compassion for others’ well-being with empathic listening skills
The ability to work full-time hours from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
Ability to talk and type at the same time
3+ year of professional work experience within one of the following areas: healthcare environment, social work, or health insurance (strong customer service or call center experience may also qualify)
Offers contingent upon favorable background

Responsibilities

Answers incoming calls and collects patient information.
Educates approved patients on program guidelines, including verification of diagnosis requirements, claims submission process, and income verification process.
