Apprenticeship Networks, Applicant Outreach and Event Coordination Internship (Start Date: December 2026/ January 2027)
About The Position
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) is seeking interns for its Apprenticeship Networks Department. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a bilingual and bicultural environment, supporting the promotion and expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Germany and the United States. The Apprenticeship Networks Department focuses on developing and managing programs based on the German dual education system to meet the demand for a skilled workforce. Interns will work out of the GACC Midwest office in Chicago and must reside in the Greater Chicago Area or be available for relocation.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of the German education system, especially the German apprenticeship system, and an interest in the US education system.
- Proficiency in English.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience with various social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and others, with the ability to create engaging content and manage outreach campaigns effectively.
Nice To Haves
- German language skills.
- Experience or knowledge in the field of manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with apprenticeship applicants via email and phone to provide program overviews, discuss opportunities, and answer questions.
- Support applicant outreach strategies and communication with high schools, counselors, and parents.
- Maintain an updated database of applicants based on region and college.
- Create and manage Indeed ads and update the website based on company hiring needs and progress.
- Assist with promoting the ICATT Apprenticeship Program at job fairs and other relevant events.
- Assist in outreach events and presentations with partners (virtual and in-person) to inform potential applicants and generate interest.
- Support event coordination, including marketing aspects, for webinars, study trips, and graduations.
- Assist in social media marketing (Newsletters, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram posting).
- Utilize graphic design tools such as InDesign, Canva, and Photoshop for marketing materials and image editing.
- Support backend management for invoice and client communication.
- Maintain the customer database (Netsuite).
- Take minutes at meetings.
- Research workforce development-related topics.
- Provide support for inquiries from companies regarding apprenticeships and training.
