About The Position

ArtWorks and Pones are teaming up to activate visual art through dance. We are seeking 8 Apprentices (ages 14-21) to choreograph and perform an original piece inspired by ArtWorks mural “Commons”. Designed by Shahzia Sikander, the mural reflects themes of identity, power, autonomy, and the right for women to be heard and seen. Painted feminine figures, flowers, and winged creatures are set against a striking turquoise and royal blue background. Apprentices will research, experiment, and collaborate alongside professional dancers, activists, and artists for 10 weeks to prepare their final performance, which will be presented at BLINK at the site of the “Commons” mural. Requirements

Must be 14-21 years old at the start of employment.
Must be available for all scheduled workdays (preparation and final performance).
Complete an online application by 11:59pm on July 5, 2026.
Submit a dance reel using the additional materials button on the application or email to [email protected].
Dance reel must be a minimum of 1 minute.
Only the applicant should be visible in the dance reel.
Introduce yourself with Name and Age at the beginning of the video.
Include any special skills, tricks, acrobatics, or unique movement abilities in the dance reel.
Dance reel material may be choreographed or improvisational.
Credit the choreographer if performing choreography created by someone else.
Film the dance reel vertically.

Responsibilities
