About The Position

We are looking for a Welder Apprentice to join our team. This is a full-time position with opportunities to further your career. The ideal candidate will be detailed, diligent, and deliberate, they will be supportive and helpful by nature, accountable and able to work independently, and thrive in fast-paced environments. This role is mainly based at Tritech’s fabrication shop in Langley, BC but may require travel within the lower mainland, and Fraser Valley regions, a valid license and reliable vehicle are required. Requirements

  • BC Class 5 driver's license, personal vehicle, and clean driver record
  • Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Able and willing to perform physical labor activities.
  • Enrolled with Skilled Trades BC as a Welder Apprentice.
  • Experience working with a variety of hand and power tools and machinery.
  • Must be able to supply own steel-toed safety boots.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude with basic maintenance and repair experience is an asset.
  • Previous welding experience considered an asset.
  • Prior forklift experience considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a shop considered an asset.
  • Completion of the Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) or SiteReadyBC or willingness to complete.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of safe hoisting and rigging procedures considered an asset.
  • Experience working on an active construction site considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performing steel, stainless steel, and aluminum fabrication tasks as directed by the shop foreman.
  • Welding and tacking pipe as well as other metal structures.
  • Pickling welded stainless pipe.
  • Using a variety of other hand and power tools and machinery safely and to company policies and procedures.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
  • Painting fabricated metals and performing rust abatement on vehicles and equipment.
  • Operating metal fabrication equipment including, but not limited to, bandsaws, drill presses, grinders and sanders.
  • Assisting metal fabricators and welders as directed.
  • Operate company equipment as directed, including but not limited to: Forklifts
  • Refilling equipment and vehicle fuel tanks as requested.
  • Cleaning & lubricating vehicles and equipment as requested.
  • Assist the Shop Coordinator as required to ensure shop and project supplies inventory is identified and stored properly.
  • Assist the Shop Coordinator as required with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of Tritech vehicles, outgoing and incoming.
  • Assist the Shop Coordinator as required to load and unload equipment, materials, and supplies going to project sites and receive them from suppliers and sites.
  • When receiving materials from suppliers, store and label them appropriately and then inform the purchaser they have arrived.
  • Assist the Shop Coordinator as required to pick from stock, gather and package materials and equipment as requested by the office and field.
  • Assist the Shop Coordinator as required to manage shop inventory by tracking incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.
  • Assist the Fleet/Shop Maintenance department with performing maintenance and repairs on the Tritech facilities as requested.
  • Performing various manual labor tasks to support operations.
  • Maintain a clean shop by removing and putting away unwanted materials and tools and other housekeeping tasks as required or assigned.
  • Performing pre-operational inspections, hazard assessments, and safety checks.
  • Being accountable, responsible & take ownership.
  • Being safety conscious and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Providing a safe work environment through continuous training and development.
  • Operating with honesty, integrity and respect.
