About The Position

Aspen Custom Trailers is a growing business looking for 2nd or 3rd year Welding Apprentices with energy, drive, and passion to contribute to their team. They specialize in heavy haul design and manufacturing challenges. Apprentices looking to become Welder/Fitters are welcome to apply. Two shifts are available with shift premiums. The work environment is a large, clean, indoor shop with safe work practices. The company has a history of long-serving employees and has been in business for 45 years, experiencing continuous growth.

Requirements

  • 2nd or 3rd year Welding Apprentices.
  • Must be able to do metal core flat and horizontal GMAW.
  • Typically 1-3 years of experience.
  • GMAW, FCAW and SMAW.
  • All position welding is required.
  • Must have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be quick to learn new skills.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required.
  • Standing on your feet for a long period of time.
  • Have good eye to hand coordination.
  • Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day.

Nice To Haves

  • CWB certifications an asset but not necessary.
  • Gouging (air arc), Plasma, lancing and oxy acetylene experience and asset.
  • Crane certification an asset but training can be supplied.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to use welding and fabrication tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams, fit and assemble accordingly.
  • Capable of FCAW, MCAW, SMAW.
  • Gouging, plasma cutting, lancing and crack repair.
  • Quality assurance and control.
  • Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Overhead crane operation.
  • Must be able to work in awkward positions.
  • Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments.
  • Ensure racking is kept in an order that work orders are easily accessible.
  • Attend toolbox meeting prior to shift.
