Apprentice Utility Arborist
About The Position
Wright Tree Service of Canada, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America. We are a company culture of Safety, Family, Integrity, Excellence and Stewardship. We offer a pay rate of $23 to $25 per hour. We provide ALL equipment needed except your CSA Certified Work Boots. We have working shifts of 9 days on and 5 days off. We offer compensated travel time, depending on working location, and live out allowance. We also provide Medical and Dental benefits and Employee Ownership potential.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record; air brakes endorsement is a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
- Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
- Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
- Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.
- Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and maintaining site cleanliness.
- Commitment to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.
- Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Other duties as required.
