Apprentice Truck Driver – Local Class A - Penske Logistics
About The Position
Immediate opportunities are available for full-time Apprentice Class A CDL Truck Drivers. This role offers a starting pay of $28.12 per hour and is a local position, meaning drivers are home daily. Drivers will operate late model Penske Truck Leasing trucks, equipped with advanced safety features like inward and outward facing in-cab cameras. The job involves light touch freight, delivering palletized groceries in Washington and Oregon, with customer assistance required for unloading using an electric pallet jack. The schedule includes a 5-day weekly work schedule with required weekends and two consecutive days off, with dispatch times ranging from 11 pm to 3 am.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of a Penske approved CDL School (CDL 160, Ivy Tech, Truck Drivers Institute, New England Tractor Trailer Training School), or a current or former member of the US Armed Forces
- Valid Class A CDL required
- Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
- Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
- 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
- English language proficiency
- The associate must be able to see and hear
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
- The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle
Nice To Haves
- Less than 12 months of commercial driving experience
Responsibilities
- Light touch freight delivering palletized groceries in WA and OR
- Customer assist unloading with use of electric pallet jack
- Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
- Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening
- Safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area
