About The Position

Jim Pattison Volvo Cars North Vancouver is hiring a Level 1 or Level 2 Apprentice Service Technician for our Service Department. You’ll be working with the Volvo brand and gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of vehicles. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced technicians, become familiar with Volvo vehicles and technology, and continue building your skills as you progress through your apprenticeship. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, willing to learn, and takes pride in doing quality work. If you enjoy working with cars and want to keep developing your skills in a professional shop, this is a good opportunity to gain experience with Volvo and grow as a technician.

Requirements

  • Completed Level 1 or 2 Automotive Service Technician Apprentice in British Columbia
  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 60 pounds and standing for extended periods
  • High level of mobility, dexterity, and awareness when working around vehicles and shop equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous automotive shop or dealership experience is considered an asset
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and willingness to continue learning
  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles is an asset
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive shop environment

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards
  • Perform thorough vehicle inspections with accurate documentation and measurements
  • Identify mechanical and electrical issues, recommend solutions, and communicate findings clearly to Service team
  • Partner with Service Advisors to provide updates on repair timelines or recommend additional safety work
  • Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory to ensure every vehicle leaving the shop is in top condition
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to source what you need and manage warranty labeling
  • Assist fellow technicians when needed to maintain overall shop productivity
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Ensure a high degree of confidentiality with company and customer information
  • Participate in maintaining a supportive and engaging working environment
