Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive an accreditation from The Virginia Department of Labor, officially becoming a certified Construction Equipment Technician. Requirements

Self-starter able to work with limited supervision and meet deadlines
Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting skills
Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to read and understand operating manuals
Must be self-directed, organized
Must have excellent driving record
Must be able to work all shifts and overtime as needed to meet customer needs
High school diploma or GED, required

Nice To Haves

Completion of a Mechanical Votech program, preferred

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and diagnose diesel equipment problems
Perform repairs, recondition and service heavy equipment and components
Complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders
Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner
Occasionally operate heavy equipment
Interact with coworkers, and work as an integral part of a team
Promote a positive customer experience
