Apprentice Simulator Technician

About The Position

In this role, the Apprentice Simulator Technician will be expected to help ensure that the in-service simulation training equipment meets the contractual availability. The role involves learning and being able to prepare the simulation training equipment for daily operation using standard operational readiness checks, performing preventative maintenance, and carrying out Qualification Test Guide (QTG) according to published schedules. The technician will also learn to load appropriate exercise scenarios, check and rectify basic operational and maintenance snags, and assist in equipment restoration or refer failures to senior staff. Housekeeping functions and completing journey logs are also part of the role. The technician will assist senior engineers with maintenance, problem resolution, and certification issues, and perform tasks supporting the technical services group. Requirements

  • Ability to gain a technical college qualification.
  • Basic computing hardware, software and operating systems knowledge and experience.
  • Basic understanding and interest in aviation and aircraft systems.
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in mechanical and electrical engineering systems.

Responsibilities

  • Help ensure that the in-service simulation training equipment meets the contractual availability.
  • Learn and be able to prepare the simulation training equipment for daily operation using standard operational readiness checks.
  • Learn and perform preventative maintenance in accordance with the published schedules for each training device.
  • Learn and carry out Qualification Test Guide (QTG) according to the published monthly schedules for each training device.
  • Learn and load appropriate exercise scenarios and other tasks required to prepare for specific training sessions.
  • Be taught to effectively check reported snags, verify simulator operation and rectify basic operational and maintenance snags.
  • Be taught and assist in the restoration of failed equipment or refer such failures to more qualified/experienced staff.
  • Learn and perform housekeeping functions and complete journey logs at the start and finish of scheduled training sessions.
  • Be taught and assist other senior engineers with maintenance, problem resolution and certification issues.
  • Perform tasks supporting the technical services group as needed.
