About The Position

This role involves performing line changeovers, set-ups, and start-ups, including vision system training and data collection. The apprentice will identify parts needed for repairs using parts manuals and assemble requisitions for supervisor approval. Responsibilities include ongoing preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment, troubleshooting and repairing electronics on production equipment to minimize downtime, and using computers and logic controllers for system analysis. The role also requires troubleshooting and repairing logic controls/PLC, steam-related components, vision systems, and automated weight checkers. Additionally, the apprentice will fabricate and install simple control systems, perform packaging line equipment changeovers accurately, document activities, and work cooperatively with others to solve problems. The position requires flexibility in shifts and willingness to work overtime, with the ability to be self-directed, motivated, and task-oriented. The apprentice must make effective decisions based on deductive reasoning and potential product impact, identify improvement opportunities, and possess strong communication skills. Gown qualified status must be attained and retained.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Line change over, set-up, start-up, including vision system training and data collection.
  • Identify parts needed for repairs using parts manual for specific equipment and assemble requisition for supervisor to order parts.
  • Responsible for on-going preventative maintenance of machinery or equipment.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electronics on all production equipment on the process and packaging lines to minimize production downtime.
  • Use computer and logic controllers to perform system analysis of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repairs logic controls/PLC, steam regulators, steam traps, steam strainers, steam valves, temperature control loops associated with autoclaves, tunnels, ovens.
  • Troubleshoot vision systems and automated weight checkers.
  • Fabricate and install simple control systems to enhance line performance.
  • Perform changeover of packaging line equipment from one size and product to another accurately, documenting the activities in accordance with procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with others to solve problems and proactively helps others when assistance is needed.
  • Make effective decisions and take action based on deductive reasoning and potential product impact.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in given processes / procedures.
  • Promote clear and thorough communication both written and oral as well as through electronic means.
  • Attain and retain gown qualified status.
