About The Position

The Apprentice Plumber assists licensed plumbers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial, and/or industrial settings. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and develop the skills necessary to progress toward Journeyman licensure. Most of the projects that are performed by NHI Commercial are directly related to multi-family housing. This means that in many cases, projects are performed within occupied units and communities, and it is the expectation of NHI Commercial that all employees act with a high level of professionalism. In many cases, you will be expected to swap out tub/surrounds, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures on a regular basis.

Requirements

A valid driver's license
High school diploma or GED required
Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a registered plumbing apprenticeship program
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds

Nice To Haves

Prior construction or trade experience
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
Self-starter, motivated
Mindfulness of surroundings

Responsibilities

Assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including piping, fixtures, and equipment
Measure, cut, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools
Support the installation of water supply, drainage, and venting systems
Maintain a clean and safe job site in compliance with safety standards
Transport tools, materials, and equipment as needed
Follow blueprints, specifications, and instructions from supervisors
Learn and adhere to local plumbing codes and regulations
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
