About The Position

This position is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing a variety of machinery and equipment throughout the Paper Mill and Power departments. The role involves ensuring safety, operating various tools and machinery, performing preventative maintenance, and working with blueprints and sketches.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with ladders, scaffolds, and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in heat and cold.
  • Ability to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions.
  • Ability to use a tape measure.
  • Ability to read pressure and vacuum gauges.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes (training provided as needed).
  • Ability to work from blueprints and sketches or use personal knowledge of task to be performed.
  • Ability to assemble necessary tools and equipment and materials to perform work and convey to scene of repair job using hand truck or electric truck.
  • Ability to observe machinery for malfunction.
  • Ability to tear down, replace, or repair worn or damaged parts.
  • Ability to align machinery and equipment using calipers, rule, level, plum bob, thickness gauges, square, micrometer and computer.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for safety and safe procedures and practices on the job.
  • Operate drill press, grinders, welders (mig, stick, and tig), acetylene, and oxygen equipment.
  • Work with ladders, scaffolds, and scissor lifts; lift 50 lbs; and work in heat and cold.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical equipment.
  • Be proactive in performing preventative maintenance and observing the work area.
  • Perform rigging, lifting, installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Use addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, a tape measure, and read pressure and vacuum gauges.
  • Maintain plumbing throughout the paper mill and company-owned properties.
  • Operate overhead cranes (training provided as needed).
  • Work from blueprints and sketches or use personal knowledge to perform tasks.
  • Assemble necessary tools, equipment, and materials for work and transport them to the repair site using a hand truck or electric truck.
  • Observe machinery for malfunction.
