About The Position

Southeast Colorado Power Association (SECPA) is a member-owned rural electric cooperative that provides electric service to over 10,500 AMI meters at 55MW peak. The 13,000 square mile service territory covers all or parts of 11 southeast Colorado counties with 5700 energized line miles (14.4kV, 24.9kV, 69kV). Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to learn and obey all OSHA regulations and safety rules necessary to perform the job.
  • Must be able to learn and apply CPR and first aid techniques.
  • Must possess knowledge of RUS specs and material uses.
  • Must be capable of operating a boom truck and aerial device.
  • Must understand how to operate a two-way radio under established procedure and FCC rules.
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL) or be able to obtain CDL Class A within sixty days.
  • Must be willing to accept duty calls at any time of the day or night.
  • Must live within 60-mile radius to the Springfield office/warehouse in order to respond to trouble calls in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with journeyman linemen, foremen, and/or other line crew personnel to accomplish jobs as assigned.
  • Assist in constructing, repairing, troubleshooting, patrolling, installing, and maintaining transmission and distribution lines, structures, transformers, meters, and associated equipment.
  • Learn to perform the essential functions of the Journeyman Lineman position.
  • Complete required related training as directed by the Apprenticeship Committee.
  • Progress through the Apprenticeship Program in a satisfactory and timely manner.
