About The Position

The Commercial Plumbing Apprentice is a plumber in training within the Commercial Plumbing Division, working under the direct supervision of the job site superintendent or another designated individual. The apprentice follows written and verbal directions and performs physical labor as assigned. The role includes assisting with job-site preparation, materials handling, plumbing installation, and other tasks using manual and electric tools and machinery. The posting describes the position as mid-level in one section and entry-level in another.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and agree to comply with company policies, including the drug-free workplace policy.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 75 pounds.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to follow directives.
Must have knowledge of basic manual and electric hand tools.
Must be dependable and able to work flexible hours when needed.
Must have or obtain the required tools to perform the job.

Responsibilities

Follow written and verbal directives from the job site superintendent or another designated individual.
Perform physical labor as directed.
Clean and prepare job sites, and load and deliver materials.
Use manual and electric hand tools and machinery.
Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
Dig and install underground sanitary sewer and domestic water piping, and above-ground DWV and domestic water piping.
Identify and install basic DWV and water fittings, and glue PVC and CPVC piping according to industry standards when applicable.
Lay out domestic water and DWV systems according to the building's plumbing system.
Perform basic trim setting for sinks, lavatories, toilets, water coolers, and similar fixtures.
Read plumbing plans and lay out plumbing systems.
Provide appropriate guidance and directives to Helpers.
Rough-in slabs, stack out buildings, and trim out buildings.
