About The Position

This position is reserved for Nunavik Inuit Beneficiary of the JBNQA. It is a permanent position (Code SST26-04) with one opening, and the application deadline is August 14, 2026. The work location is in Nunavik, with a rotational work schedule of 4 weeks: 2 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 2 weeks off.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 or territorial driver’s license (mandatory)
  • Self-motivated, responsible, able to meet deadlines, methodical, strong team player, leadership skills, and excellent judgment
  • Complies with occupational health and safety regulations, as well as environmental requirements
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma (DES)
  • Firefighter 1 certification or Fire Alarm Technician certification (ACAI/CFAA), or any other relevant experience related to the position may be considered
  • Valid general explosives permit
  • Relevant work experience related to the position
  • Possession of a valid Class 4A driver’s license
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, or French (trilingualism considered an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting required inspections of fire safety equipment and systems at the Expo site, as well as vehicles used by the Security and Emergency Measures Services and the Fire Brigade.
  • Providing support to Security and Emergency Measures dispatchers and supervisors in carrying out their daily duties.
  • Ensuring the maintenance and proper operation of fire extinguishers.
  • Providing training to employees.
  • Conducting road patrols.
  • Ensuring compliance with camp rules and regulations.
  • Representing the employer within the scope of their responsibilities.
  • Performing any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
