About The Position

FSS Technologies is hiring an Inspector Apprentice to learn how to inspect and test fire alarm and sprinkler systems. No industry experience is needed. The apprentice will begin by working alongside experienced inspectors and take on more responsibility as their skills grow. The position includes full-time work and travel to customer locations up to 40% of the time. Some after-hours or weekend work may be required. FSS Technologies provides training and a path to grow into an Inspector role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years old.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance requirements.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and take direction.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude with customers.
• Basic computer or tablet skills.

Nice To Haves

• Trade, mechanical work, maintenance, plumbing, electrical, automotive, farming, or military experience.

Responsibilities

• Help inspect and test fire alarm and sprinkler systems under the direction of experienced inspectors.
• Learn to find and document problems with systems and equipment.
• Learn to complete accurate inspection reports.
• Learn and follow NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
• Help explain inspection results to customers.
• Support service technicians when repairs are needed.
• Keep tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas safe and organized.
• Complete required on-the-job and classroom or online training.
