As we continue to grow, we are accepting applications for Apprentice Carpenters, for work in Edmonton, AB. As an Apprentice Carpenter, you are a talented builder and critical member of the Benchmark Builders field team. You are solutions-oriented and enjoy working with a multi-faceted team on challenging construction projects. Your team recognizes you as a reliable leader and knowledgeable construction worker who is passionate about efficiently and consistently delivering quality work.

Requirements

  • Must have availability to work weekends, nights, and out of town as needed.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety.
  • Proficient at the following tasks: wood backing, framing, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.
  • Own transportation, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to multi task with strong attention to detail.
  • Productive in a team environment.
  • Welcome all non-ticketed and those with a valid Carpenter Apprentice ticket from a recognized provincial training authority to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to operate a skid steer and rough terrain forklift is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assisting carpenters with new build construction, renovations, and the repairing of buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel, concrete and other materials.
  • Working under the supervision of a journeyman carpenter, assisting them in their duties while actively training and gaining a better understanding of the trade.
  • Learn and actively practice essential carpentry skills on the job.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter.
