As we continue to grow, we are accepting applications for Apprentice Carpenters, for work in Edmonton, AB. As an Apprentice Carpenter, you are a talented builder and critical member of the Benchmark Builders field team. You are solutions-oriented and enjoy working with a multi-faceted team on challenging construction projects. Your team recognizes you as a reliable leader and knowledgeable construction worker who is passionate about efficiently and consistently delivering quality work.

Requirements

Must have availability to work weekends, nights, and out of town as needed.
Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety.
Proficient at the following tasks: wood backing, framing, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.
Own transportation, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driver’s abstract.
Ability to multi task with strong attention to detail.
Productive in a team environment.
Welcome all non-ticketed and those with a valid Carpenter Apprentice ticket from a recognized provincial training authority to apply.

Nice To Haves

Able to operate a skid steer and rough terrain forklift is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Assisting carpenters with new build construction, renovations, and the repairing of buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel, concrete and other materials.
Working under the supervision of a journeyman carpenter, assisting them in their duties while actively training and gaining a better understanding of the trade.
Learn and actively practice essential carpentry skills on the job.
Maintain a safe work environment.
Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter.
