About The Position

This position involves constructing, building, and maintaining Overhead/Underground Electric Facilities with primary voltages up to 15KV. The role requires hands-on work in installation, removal, and maintenance of various electrical components and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Must live within 20 miles of the work location.
• Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments as required.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Apprentice 1st Year: Completion of an accredited Lineworker Training program OR prior demonstrated linework experience.
• Apprentice 2nd Year: Must have been an Apprentice 1st year for at least 6 months and have completed a minimum of 6 months of demonstrated linework experience.
• Apprentice 3rd Year: Must have been an Apprentice 2nd year for at least 6 months and have completed a minimum of 1.5 years of demonstrated linework experience.
• Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
• Must be willing and able to attend and take part in safety meetings.

• Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Must be able to safely operate trucks and heavy equipment and safely work around energized lines and equipment.
• Must be able to work at heights for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work overhead from a bucket truck (perform work above shoulders on energized overhead lines).
• Must be able to climb up and descend from wooden/steel structures, poles and ladders and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, handle and feel.
• Must have sound judgment necessary to work safely in an inherently dangerous environment.
• Must be able to understand and follow safety rules.
• Must be able to work up to 16 continuous hours per day.
• Must have the ability to wear required personal protection equipment.
• Must be able to perform basic computer tasks, such as entering time worked, noting beginning and completion of assigned task, checking and responding to emails, completing computer-based training, and other similar tasks.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and interact with a team.
• Must have the ability to manage stress and handle tense situations.
• Must have regular and reliable attendance.
• Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
• Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment.

Responsibilities

• Installation, removal, and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
• Installation and wiring of OH/UG transformers, including all types of transformer banks.
• Installation and wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
• Driving of different sizes and types of trucks.
• Operation of various pieces of equipment, including Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
• Reading and understanding job prints and sketches.
• Recognizing materials and their functions.
• Setting and climbing of all sizes of poles in various locations (open areas, rear alleys, energized lines).
• Being available for on-call duty and emergency response.
• Performing basic computer tasks such as entering time worked, noting task completion, checking emails, and completing computer-based training.
• Communicating effectively and interacting with a team.
• Managing stress and handling tense situations.
• Maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
• Working overtime when necessary.
• Performing emergency rescue operations, including bringing an unconscious or injured co-worker down from a significant height.
• Working at heights for extended periods.
• Working overhead from a bucket truck on energized overhead lines.
