About The Position

The County of Mono is seeking an Appraiser Aide to provide specialized clerical and technical support to professional appraisal staff within the Assessor’s Office. This position plays an important role in researching property records, reviewing deeds and ownership documents, processing property tax exemptions, maintaining appraisal records, and assisting with determinations related to changes in ownership and reappraisable events. The Appraiser Aide may also assist with field inspections of land, structures, and property improvements; gather and verify property information; perform calculations; prepare records and reports; and respond to questions from the public regarding property records, maps, deeds, and appraisal procedures. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in property appraisal and assessment practices while supporting the County’s property assessment responsibilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with property records, legal descriptions, and numerical information. This individual enjoys research and problem-solving and is able to gather, analyze, and accurately record information from a variety of sources. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly and professionally when working with the public, County staff, and other agencies. The ideal candidate is also someone who is eager to learn the principles and practices of property assessment and appraisal. The ability to follow established procedures, perform mathematical calculations accurately, maintain thorough records, and establish cooperative working relationships will be important to success in this role. Experience in an Assessor’s Office or appraisal setting is not required; the position is designed as a bridge into the professional appraisal field for someone with the aptitude and interest to grow in this area.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • One (1) year of clerical, administrative, technical, research, records, customer service, or other experience involving the collection, processing, and maintenance of information; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California driver's license.
