About The Position

Amazon Advertising is a rapidly growing sector within Amazon, focused on helping merchants, vendors, and brand owners increase sales through native advertising. The Creative X team specifically aims to make high-quality creatives (audio, images, videos, text) accessible to advertisers by developing AI-driven solutions. This involves leveraging Generative AI methods such as latent-diffusion models, large language models (LLM), generative audio, computer vision (CV), and reinforced learning (RL). The Applied Scientist will be part of a collaborative team of scientists, product managers, UX designers, and engineers, contributing to cutting-edge research and development in multi-modal Generative AI for advertising.

Requirements

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse
  • Strong expertise in AI agent evaluation methodologies and complex task decomposition
  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered video generation pipelines
  • Deep knowledge in LLM/VLM fine tuning and reinforcement learning

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • Have publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Responsibilities

  • Drive the invention and development of novel AI Agent architectures and video/image/audio generation models in advertising.
  • Work closely and integrate end-to-end proof-of-concept Machine Learning projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale and complexity.
  • Build interface-oriented systems that use Machine Learning models, perform proof-of-concept, experiment, optimize, and deploy your models into production; work closely with software engineers to assist in productionizing your ML models.
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analysis, machine-learning model development, model validation and serving.
  • Mentor and help recruit Applied Scientists to the team.
  • Present results and explain methods to senior leadership.
  • Willingness to publish research at internal and external top scientific venues.
  • Write and pursue IP submissions.
  • Develop AI agent, new multi-modal paradigms, models, datasets that will be at the core of advertising-facing tools.
  • Conduct literature reviews to stay on the SOTA of the field.
  • Regularly engage with product managers, UX designers and engineers who will partner with you to productize your work.
