About The Position

As part of Apple’s Siri organization, the Applied Research Engineer/Scientist will help develop a deeply personal, integrated assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. The work supports capabilities such as personal-context understanding and on-screen awareness, with privacy built in, and can affect experiences across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS. The role focuses on research and engineering for self-improving systems, agentic memory, and deeply personalized autonomous multi-agent systems. The successful candidate will help create intelligent architectures that learn continuously, reason over persistent memory, coordinate across agents, and turn frontier research into scalable product experiences. The position combines applied research, prototyping, and product development to deliver practical, production-ready AI systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on machine-learning experience in product development, prototyping, or research environments.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with machine-learning development.
  • Understanding of transformer-based models.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to team members.
  • Experience prototyping in ML/AI contexts.
  • Knowledge of large language models and multimodal foundation models.
  • Experience with pre-training, fine-tuning, or performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with AI systems capable of reasoning and task execution.
  • Creativity and curiosity about applying AI capabilities to product experiences.
  • Good collaboration skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Advance self-improving systems that learn from deployment signals, adapt over time, and autonomously optimize performance in real-world environments.
  • Design and operationalize agentic memory frameworks for long-horizon reasoning, contextual continuity, personalization, and durable knowledge across interactions.
  • Contribute to the design and development of personalized autonomous multi-agent systems for coordination, task decomposition, tool use, and dynamic collaboration.
  • Conduct product-oriented research and rapid prototyping, translating foundational advances into validated user experiences and production-ready architectures.
  • Influence platform strategy cross-functionally, assist in defining technical direction, and deliver scalable machine-learning systems integrated across hardware, software, and services.
  • Implement research innovations in practical applications.
