The Applied Research Engineer 1 is an engineer in the College of Engineering (COE), Center for Automotive Research (CAR) who conducts research in the areas of battery thermal systems. This role involves working with CAR faculty, staff, researchers, students, and industry partners to conduct battery thermal modeling and simulation and support sponsored research. The engineer will extract and analyze simulation results, prepare technical reports for sponsor reviews, and prepare and present papers/reports. Responsibilities also include writing, editing, and/or approving progress and technical reports for sponsors, editing research results for publication and presentation, and assisting in identifying, writing, and preparing proposals to pursue new funding opportunities. The role also involves developing task lists, timelines, and budgets for research projects, attending relevant internal and external research meetings, and supporting teaching and training in electrified vehicle technologies.
