The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver with strong engineering fundamentals, sound technical judgment, and a passion for developing innovative solutions to complex mechanical challenges. Working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will perform and document advanced applied mechanics evaluations supporting the design, licensing, qualification, and operation of radioactive material (e.g. high-level radioactive waste, used and fresh nuclear fuel, etc.) transportation, storage, transfer, and handling systems. Responsibilities include nonlinear transient analyses using the explicit finite element code LS-DYNA, structural evaluations using ANSYS, development of engineering methodologies, support of licensing activities with relevant competent authorities (e.g. US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), US Department of Energy, (DOE), Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), etc.), and technical interaction with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Analyses are performed in accordance with applicable design specifications, quality assurance requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry codes and standards.
