About The Position

We’re looking for an Applied AI Engineer to bring modern AI capabilities into our products, engineering workflows, and financial infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on turning LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, and AI-powered workflows into reliable production systems. You’ll identify high-impact opportunities for AI, prototype quickly, evaluate what works, and take successful ideas all the way into production.

Requirements

• Strong software engineer with experience shipping AI-powered products or production systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of modern LLMs, agents, RAG, tool calling, and AI application architecture.
• Comfortable with Python, backend systems, APIs, and integrations.
• Understand that production AI requires strong evaluation, observability, reliability, and failure handling.
• Thrive in ambiguity, have strong product instincts, and are comfortable taking ideas from initial experimentation through production with significant ownership.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with fintech, payments, financial infrastructure, stablecoins, or blockchain is a strong plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship AI-powered products, agents, internal tools, and automated workflows across Better Money.
• Build systems around modern LLMs, including tool calling, RAG, structured outputs, context management, and integrations with APIs and internal systems.
• Develop evaluation and monitoring frameworks to measure accuracy, reliability, latency, and cost, while designing appropriate guardrails for AI operating within financial infrastructure.
• Working closely with Product and Engineering, help determine where AI can meaningfully improve the product, automate complex processes, and give a small team significantly more leverage.
