Applied AI Engineer

Snowplow•,

About The Position

Snowplow is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to serve as the engineering partner embedded in its Growth team, while remaining part of the Applied AI team. The role owns Firn-related engineering standards and productionizes and improves the Growth team's existing go-to-market workflows. The Director of Growth sets business priorities, while the engineer decides how to build and implements the solutions. The role collaborates with data engineers, a platform engineer, Growth Associates, and account executives. It reports to the Senior Director of Applied AI. The engineer will take ownership of the outbound orchestrator and sequences, campaign builder, intent-signal routine, enrichment and signal pipelines, and paid-media loop. The work includes building agent-based checks and sampled human sign-off before outreach, instrumenting sends and running A/B tests, and using replies and booked meetings to improve targeting and messaging. It also includes bringing third-party signals and first-party behavioral data into Snowflake, exposing relevant fields through MCP tools, creating Claude skills and routines for sellers, and supporting adoption through working sessions. The role is accountable for deliverability and suppression rules, and for applying engineering standards across its workflows, including version control, alerting, tracing, runbooks, documented handover, and migration to the Firn factory framework. It maintains a weekly backlog with the Director of Growth, prioritizes work based on pipeline impact, and provides a short written account of shipped work and results. If business priorities conflict with engineering standards, the Director of Growth and Senior Director of Applied AI resolve the issue together. The interview process includes a short coding exercise and a working session demonstrating how the candidate uses AI on a real task, with their own setup. Candidates may use AI when applying.

Requirements

  • Experience writing software that runs in production; Python and SQL are working languages, and daily use of git.
  • Ability to read and use API documentation; familiarity with tools such as n8n, Clay, or Zapier, and ability to write code when those tools are insufficient.
  • Experience building with LLMs for practical work, including prompts, tools, structured outputs, evaluation, and designing for model failure modes.
  • Operational reliability habits, including alerting, error handling, retries, and recovery, and addressing underlying classes of problems rather than isolated incidents.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines into Snowflake or an equivalent data warehouse, and ability to model a table in dbt or learn it quickly.
  • Ability to work directly with sellers and marketers, clarify their needs, deliver useful solutions quickly, and identify broken processes behind requests.
  • Comfort working at a fast tempo, shipping small changes, measuring outcomes, and communicating plainly when something is not working.
  • An AI-native way of working demonstrated through a workflow, automation, or agent the candidate built and still uses; the candidate should expect to demonstrate it during interviews.
  • Ability to work embedded in another team, follow its priorities, and uphold the engineering standards of the candidate's own team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce, Apollo, Smartlead, Lemlist, similar go-to-market tooling, or their APIs.
  • Experience with high-volume email deliverability.
  • Experience with paid-media platform APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the Growth team's production GTM workflows, including the outbound orchestrator and sequences, campaign builder, intent-signal routine, enrichment and signal pipelines, and paid-media loop.
  • Make workflows reliable, understand their operation and costs, and respond when they fail.
  • Build agent-based review steps to validate outreach lists, confirm signals are current, and review copy before sequences are sent, with sampled human sign-off.
  • Instrument outreach, run A/B tests, and feed replies and meetings booked back into targeting and messaging decisions.
  • Build and maintain pipelines that bring third-party signals and first-party behavior into Snowflake, and work with data engineers to expose fields through MCP tools.
  • Build Claude skills, seller routines, and campaign tooling for Growth Associates and AEs, and run short working sessions to support adoption.
  • Maintain contact rules, warm-inbox discipline, and suppression windows to support email deliverability.
  • Apply version control, alerting, tracing, runbooks, and documented handover to workflows, and steadily move them onto the Firn factory framework.
  • Maintain a standing backlog with the Director of Growth, set priorities based on pipeline, and provide a concise written update on what shipped and its impact.
  • Work with the Director of Growth, data engineers, platform engineer, Growth Associates, and AEs to deliver and improve workflows.
