Future - Staff Applied AI Engineer
About The Position
Future (future.co) is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build the AI foundation of a new Health Coach product. The company has raised $110M and has notable board members including Tom Brady, Eddie Cue, and Adam Bain. This role involves building and shipping production AI agents for Health Coach, including features like coach matching, clinical-leaning guidance (sleep, nutrition, fitness), and human-in-the-loop systems. The engineer will own the entire development loop from prototyping and evaluation to deployment and iteration, focusing on improving reliability, latency, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- 4-10 years of experience
- Shipped LLM agents to production
- Strong big-tech background, ideally moved to startups or founded a company
- Proficiency in Python/async, LangChain/LangGraph, Pydantic, Langfuse, AWS/Bedrock
- Ability to work independently in a beta-stage environment
- US citizen or Green Card holder
Responsibilities
- Build and ship production AI agents for Health Coach: tool-calling LLMs, structured output, parallel API orchestration, streaming
- Develop AI features such as coach matching, clinical-leaning guidance (sleep, nutrition, fitness), and human in the loop
- Own the development loop: prototype, conduct Langfuse evaluations/rubrics, deploy, monitor traces, and iterate
- Improve reliability, latency, and cost through prompt caching, token budgets, retries, and observability
- Write agent tools (Pydantic-validated integrations) in an EPD pod
