About The Position

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. The Enterprise Student Management Systems (ESMS) sub-division within OIT provides operational, application development and maintenance support for the systems applications and technical assets used by six large, complex and mission critical business units: Financial Aid and Scholarships, Financial Services, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Summer Session, and Undergraduate Admissions.

Requirements

  • Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts, specifically with Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) Cloud Service, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle Analytics Publisher (OAP) / Oracle BI Publisher (BIP), Oracle Application Express (APEX), Java, Groovy, RESTful APIs PL/SQL, T-SQL, and includes application development and operational support tools including GitHub, Jenkins, Zena, MFT and shell scripting.
  • Experience developing applications following secure coding and data protection best practices and norms.
  • Knowledge of secure software development.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Knowledge of other IT related areas.
  • Experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
  • Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated software repository skills.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Experience with common programming tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications and a formal Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience debugging, testing, and validating accuracy of developed applications and code.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of version control software for branching, merging.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1-3 years of experience in software development.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Financial Aid IT Manager, the Applications Programmer applies professional programming concepts, community standards, and relevant policies for small to medium-sized projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Resolves a variety of programming design and implementation issues.
  • Works on programming assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Exhibits competence in selecting tools, methods, and techniques to obtain results.
  • Provides operational, application development and maintenance support for systems applications and technical assets.
