Position Overview: Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Applications Manager is responsible for coordinating the BI (Business Intelligence) program strategies and road map, and manages a team of BI, and data professionals to meet business requirements across the enterprise. This position is distinguished by management level responsibility for the BI programs and systems at H2O America, and national coordination of BI strategies. The incumbent manages BI, and data professionals who facilitate all business intelligence processes and procedures from design through development and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in BI, Data Analytics, Visualizations, or a related field.
  • 4 years of people and organizational management experience including technology professionals.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Management related to Data Warehouse or BI systems projects.
  • Proficient in working closely with Senior Management and business partners in documenting and analyzing BI and Data solutions.
  • Impact and Influence – Strong negotiation and consensus building skills when dealing with stakeholders and team members.
  • Experience with Database/Database tools/Applications/Reporting tools (SQL)
  • Knowledge of ITIL change management.
  • Experience using ETL packages.
  • Experience leading data warehousing and data management solutions, able to articulate technical concepts in non-technical terms.

Nice To Haves

  • Some AWS knowledge a plus.
  • Experience in Data Science and Analytics Problem Solving using BI Tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Experience working in a Scrum environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the performance of a team of BI and Data professionals by providing guidance and feedback to ensure appropriate take, prioritization, and timely completion of all data and reporting tasks.
  • Plans, assigns, manages and reviews analysts and developers work on BI Projects.
  • Consults with multiple departments on their use of BI to ensure strategy and roadmap align with business needs.
  • Collaborates with business partners to gain full understanding of business needs, gather requirements, and suggest reporting solutions to support strategic initiatives.
  • Defines new and refine existing solutions using industry best practices for enterprise data management, data integration and data ingestion.
  • Oversees maintenance and support of business intelligence and data analysis software, including Tableau, Fulcrum, Data Warehouses, FME and other related systems.
  • Manages governance across all areas if their services (BI and Data) including service management, incident and change management, continual service improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for developing and updating a Strategy, Roadmap and team or consultants to develop the BI and Data platform required for SJWC and get ready for H2O America.
  • Contributes to the creation of strategic roadmap, and operational execution of that roadmap, to deliver a standardized, scalable, secure and effective technology platform.
  • Maintains relationships with key business and support function stakeholders to identify satisfaction levels and emerging needs for the services provided.
  • Maintains high level of adherence to cybersecurity principles, ethics practices, and company policies.
  • Required to complete occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines or address emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
