About The Position

EMIT Technologies is seeking a technically sharp, detail-oriented Applications Engineer to own panel and controls applications as an individual contributor. The role translates customer requirements into buildable panel configurations and production documentation, then supports a clean start-up in the field. The engineer works directly with customer engineers and collaborates with Solutions Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Sales. After an initial ramp alongside the Controls Engineering Manager, the engineer shares weekend and off-hours customer-call and activation coverage with the Technical Support team. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional customer-site support and manufacturing-floor visits; standard PPE is required for site and manufacturing-floor visits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, mechanical, or a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Solid understanding of control systems and control theory.
  • Working knowledge of gas compression principles, valves, and gas process flow.
  • Experience with electrical drafting.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to retain and apply technical details.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and complete documentation.
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working directly with customer engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong work ethic and a self-motivated, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and participate in a weekend/off-hours coverage rotation.
  • Ability to use standard PPE during site and manufacturing-floor visits.

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customer engineers to determine panel functional requirements and design matching panel configurations.
  • Participate in customer reviews of functional requirements for new panel applications and verify requirements with customers to secure approval before configuration work proceeds.
  • Support Sales and Solutions Engineering in identifying suitable EMIT products and configurations, determining feasibility, and identifying required parts.
  • Help customers plan how panel functionality will apply to their projects.
  • Review IO sheets from Solutions Engineering for technical accuracy and completeness, and create IO sheets for requests that do not come through Solutions Engineering.
  • Create panel schematics and bills of materials in SolidWorks (2D), and make electrical drawing changes as needed.
  • Create configuration files, test files, and wire files, as well as cause-and-effect diagrams and sequence-of-operations documentation as required.
  • Partner with Mechanical Engineering to release completed panel documentation to production.
  • Coordinate drawing updates with Mechanical Engineering and new features with Software Engineering to complete panel applications.
  • Support engine control application scoping by identifying required kits and parts.
  • Assist customers during unit commissioning with control changes to meet site-specific requirements, including occasional on-site support.
  • Set up hardware simulations to support field troubleshooting.
  • Share weekend and off-hours activation and customer-call coverage with the Technical Support team after the initial ramp.
