About The Position

Ixana.ai, a Purdue University spinoff, is developing brain-inspired wearable computing and groundbreaking wireless technology called Wi-R. Wi-R uses 100 times less energy than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and streams high-speed data using a small electromagnetic field bubble. We are seeking a Software Engineer focused on developing applications with Wi-R hardware utilizing Python. The role involves developing software applications for various reference hardware with Wi-R chips (smartglasses, earbuds, smartwatches, EEG nodes, EMG nodes, smartphones, heart rate monitors, and smartrings) and scripting for Wi-R testing.

Requirements

  • Python developer with a problem-solving mindset and familiarity with hardware.
  • Experience deploying Python on Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or other microcontroller units (MCUs).
  • Some experience with embedded programming, preferably in C.
  • Proficient in Python for backend development.
  • Ability to deploy servers on AWS.
  • Quick learner.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent IoT development experience.
  • Advanced Python skills with backend programming experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in Python.
  • Experience with low-level hardware interfaces and debugging.
  • Strong hardware/electrical know-how, including the ability to test firmware using tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and USB communication protocols.
  • Embedded project hobbies.
  • Experience with test automation tools for hardware compatibility validation.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts.
  • Comfort with virtualization or container technologies such as QEMU, KVM, LXC/LXD, or Docker.

Responsibilities
