JavaScript Applications Engineer (REMOTE)

Xcellent Technology Solutions,
$65,000 - $75,000Remote

About The Position

Behind the National Map is more than geographic data. There are applications, cloud environments, and development work that make that information accessible and useful to the people who reply to it. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as an Applications Engineer to support the United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Technical Operations Center. You’ll help enhance and maintain the public-facing applications that bring authoritative geographic information to users through The National Map. As an Applications Engineer, you won’t be starting from scratch. You’ll step into existing applications, learn how they work, and help make them better—whether that means improving functionality, enhancing how data is presented, troubleshooting an issue, or finding a more efficient way for information to move through the environment. JavaScript will be at the core of what you do, but your impact will stretch beyond the application itself. You’ll work with AWS technologies to support and automate cloud-based data workflows, test and improve existing solutions, and think through how code can become more efficient and scalable as needs evolve. Along the way, you’ll collaborate within a technical environment where solving the problem well matters just as much as getting the code to work. We’re looking for someone who is curious enough to dig into how something works, technical enough to figure out how to improve it, and thoughtful enough to build solutions that can be maintained long after the initial problem is solved. If this sounds like the kind of developer you are, join XTS and help us continue moving The National Map forward!
