About The Position

The Applications Engineer will assist with the development of the bank’s internal API infrastructure. You will be responsible for the development of API microservices around the bank’s core applications, delivering scalable solutions to internal stakeholders, vendors, and partners. You will interface with the banks application system layer APIs and develop internal libraries for further layers of abstraction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in RESTful API development using Python and cloud application deployments
  • 3-5 years of experience with legacy core banking applications and data formats (e.g., NACHA, ISO 20022).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, ETL tools and building data pipelines
  • Knowledge of Postgres, S3, AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Git and Docker.
  • Strong understanding and of microservice architecture patterns. Including asynchronous RESTful API patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand software development methodologies such as TTD and Agile development.
  • Knowledge with SOAP, JSON and XML formats.
  • Strong understanding of Python, SQL. DAX, Java, NoSQL is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, OOP concepts and modeling.
  • Familiarity with CD/CI principals, SDLC and API lifecycle management

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Python ORM frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Python, SQL. DAX, Java, NoSQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the design and development of internal libraries interfacing with the bank’s applications.
  • Assists with the design and development of RESTful API microservices, managing API versions and lifecycles.
  • Assists with the management of the bank’s development technology stack.
  • Assists with development of security controls for API endpoints.
  • Assists with the development of serverless deployments using AWS.
  • Assists with CI /CD pipelines, API Gateways, and code maintenance.
  • Gathers software requirements specifications, working with internal and external teams to understand business and functional requirements.
  • Maintains and contributes to code quality with unit testing, integration testing and code review.
  • Documents API schemas as well as internal API management procedures.
  • Assists in troubleshooting, testing, and debugging when failures arise.
