About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business and one of North America's largest machine tool distributors, is seeking a passionate and upbeat CNC Manufacturing Engineer. This role supports customers and the internal sales team by designing, implementing, and owning custom manufacturing solutions with a focus on CNC manufacturing, automation, and robotics. The engineer will be responsible for developing solutions, providing training, and supporting technical needs in the CNC arena, ultimately driving new and existing revenue streams. Technical Equipment, a key distributor in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, serves manufacturers of precision machined parts across various industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, electronics, energy, medical, and firearms, aiming to enhance their productivity and competitive edge.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on machining background with at least 5 years of demonstrated ability in process development and programming of CNC machines.
  • Tooling and ancillary machining equipment knowledge is a must.
  • Frequent travel throughout our regional territory; some overnight travel required.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of times.
  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Confirmed working knowledge of MasterCam and/or Esprit software is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and effective interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Part programming of CNC Machine Tools, process development, and customer training.
  • Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, and part processing recommendations.
  • Drafting accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Programming and setting up CNC lathes, CNC vertical or horizontal mills with automation and robotics.
  • Developing/implementing customer demonstrations and training users in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes and robots.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company.
  • Perform related duties as required.
