About The Position

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for helping establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The role contributes to application systems analysis and programming activities, with a focus on developing Generative AI applications and backend services. The position is based in Irving, Texas, and is full-time.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Python.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI concepts and technologies.
• Experience working with GenAI-related APIs, such as OpenAI or Gemini.
• Practical experience implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Expertise in at least one modern Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with multiple management teams to integrate functions, meet goals, and identify and define system enhancements for new products and process improvements.
• Resolve high-impact problems and projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure application designs adhere to the overall architecture blueprint.
• Use advanced knowledge of system flow to develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop knowledge of how business areas, including architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
• Analyze issues using interpretive thinking and develop innovative solutions.
• Advise or coach mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
• Assess risk in business decisions, consider the firm's reputation and the safeguarding of Citi, its clients, and assets, comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, apply sound ethical judgment, and transparently escalate, manage, and report control issues.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and efficient Python code for Generative AI applications.
• Integrate GenAI-related APIs, such as OpenAI and Gemini, to build features and products.
• Implement and optimize Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to improve AI model capabilities and provide contextually relevant responses.
• Develop and deploy backend services using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to high-quality code and best practices.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Use cloud container orchestration services such as OpenShift ECS to deploy and manage applications.
