The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join their Division of Technology Services (DTS) team as an Applications Developer. This role supports four mainframe systems: Job Automated System (JAS), Tax Employer Accounting Multi-system (TEAM), Computer Assisted Collection System (CACS), and General Unemployment Insurance Development Effort (GUIDE). These systems are written in Natural, COBOL, CICS and utilize ADABAS, DB2, and VSAM files. The position involves analyzing customer application change requests, requirements documents, and system investigation requests, translating them into technical specifications, writing and modifying programs, testing and debugging programs, creating operation documentation using JobDoc, writing and testing Job Control Language (JCL), writing programs to call common modules to access DB2 from Central Information File (CIF), and completing production migration requests. The role also requires supporting and participating in Agile Methodology practices, including attending Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-up meetings, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective sessions. The developer will assist the team in meeting Sprint commitments, create and update User Stories in the Product Backlog and Sprint Backlog, and create/update tasks. This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based on department needs and performance.
