About The Position

This role involves defining the overall structure, logical components, and interrelationships of computer systems, operating systems, and networks. The Applications Architect will define the structure and relationships among applications, identify reusable components, establish quality metrics, and determine interfaces. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing cross-platform applications in large, distributed environments, monitoring the entire system, understanding component interactions, and defining limitations and requirements for source code. The role also entails defining interactions between application packages, databases, and middleware systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience as a Business/Applications Architect following Zachman framework
• Proven experience working on large-scale programs involving multiple highly inter-dependent systems
• Experience in designing secured system-to-system integrations using Web services and API-based architectures
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Proven experience with JAD facilitation, interpret business needs to technical requirements, project meetings for reviews.
• Experience in documenting business processes, business requirements and system requirements.
• Experience in identifying, reviewing and analyzing solution implementation options and alternatives, including associated risks, documenting results and presenting conclusions.
• Experience in advising clients on options, cost benefit analysis and reporting to senior decision makers.
• Experience working in programs consisting of multiple highly inter-dependent projects.
• Proven experience facilitating the resolution of I&IT and Business issues.
• Demonstrable experience with requirement management, quality assurance and change management tools.
• Demonstrable skills and experience with documenting deliverables outlined in Deliverables section
• 10+ years experience as an Application/information/Security Architect developing a mixed of system architectures for in-house custom solutions/COTS/Cloud based solution
• Knowledge of how the Architecture Governance Process works, including Gating/Checkpoints and their significance. The successful candidate should have previous experience in guiding project through the Architecture Governance Process.
• Knowledge/Experience in producing Enterprise Application/Information architecture artifacts and how they provide an enterprise view to the application being architected / designed.
• Experienced in the analysis and design of Microsoft Azure Cloud Based Applications and advanced workflows using Microsoft Flow & Logic Apps
• Proven experience in API design, integration and technical requirement definition
• Knowledge/Experience in system analysis, solution design and use case driven modeling.
• Knowledge in documenting the Architecture using the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
• Knowledge/experience in application and information modeling with extensive use of well accepted design patterns for Conceptual, Logical and Physical architecture.
• Knowledge/experience in Data Modeling, including Conceptual, Logical and Physical data and dimension models.
• Demonstrated Experience in the analysis and planning for the large/complex multi-platform, multi-tier Information Technology Systems.
• Proven ability to manage to successful completion an assignment of this nature, magnitude and complexity, and achieve the results on schedule and within budget.
• Experience working on projects within a multi-client/partner environment.
• Proven experience facilitating the resolution of complex IT issues related to architecture domain.
• Experience in providing all related security information while documenting application Architectures
• Expert skills in using Powerdesigner tool for developing all architectures domains
• Expert skill with MS Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Excellent communication and written skills
• Skills in consensus building and issue resolution involving key stakeholders, and members of teams.
• A team player working well under stress and tight deadlines.
• Hands-on experience in successfully conveying highly technical information to nontechnical audience.

• Experienced with OPS enterprise architecture methodologies, processes and all applicable GO-ITS standards
• Experience with TRA's, PIA's and Security Systems within the OPS
• Experience with Government of Ontario Architecture deliverables (including the Zachman framework), and approval processes
• Knowledge and experience in working in accordance with policies and procedures of Ontario Public Service

• Experience in the development and implementation of application architectures at the specified experience level.
• Extensive experience with at least two different computing platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, programming languages and communication protocols. Experience with middleware and gateways.

• Experience developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models and documentation).
• Experience leading multi-tier application infrastructure design, documentation and configuration for medium or large corporate implementations.
• Experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining large complex applications, workflow processes and dynamic forms.

Responsibilities

• Applied to both, the process and the outcome of thinking out and specifying the overall structure, logical components, and the logical interrelationships of a computer, its operating system, a network, or other conception.
• Defines the structure and relationship among applications, including the identification of re-usable components, quality level metrics, the organization and layering of software, and the determination of interfaces.
• Responsibilities also include developing, implementing and managing at least one cross-platform application in a large and distributed environment, monitor the whole system, understand all interactions between components on a given level of abstraction, as well as to define limitations and requirements for source code.
• Defines the interactions between application packages, databases and middleware systems.
