About The Position

The Application Technician 1 - eBid/Surplus Property is responsible for performing clerical, administrative, and customer service support for the Department of General Services, eBid / Surplus Property Division. The men and women in Metro’s General Services Department are there to make sure the rest of government works. From ensuring that our city’s vehicles run safely and smoothly, to keeping city buildings up to par to providing printing services and more, General Services is the support that allows other Metro departments to focus and achieve their missions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of professional experience in an administrative, financial, technical, or related field specific to online auctions and surplus property.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
  • All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

  • Experience in maintaining accurate records
  • Experience inspecting Items for quality and notating observations accurately
  • Professional experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to deal courteously with the public

Responsibilities

  • Enters and updates online auction listings on the GovDeals platform
  • Provides customer service to the public regarding descriptions and viewing of online auction items
  • Proofread items that are entered online for auction and make changes as necessary
  • Provides onsite assistance for auction item pick-ups
  • Receive and process surplus forms for inventory
  • Process forms associated with the disposal of surplus property
  • Tag and verify accurate inventory when received
  • Assists warehouse personnel in preparing furniture, vehicles, and equipment for online auction
  • Maintain the warehouse inventory spreadsheet
  • Maintain organized filing systems both electronic and physical to ensure accuracy
  • Online auction administration
  • Provide customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Assists with other clerical/technical related activities as needed
  • Assist with physical inventory and quarterly spot check audits
  • Assist with offsite pickups at the Police Property Room
  • May participate in walkthroughs for departmental moves and special projects
  • Attend meetings and workshops as needed
