Application/Sales Engineer

Progressive AutomationsRichmond, BC
CA$70,000 - CA$90,000

About The Position

As an Application/Sales Engineer for our linear motion division, you’ll secure new business by helping OEMs with product selection, testing and customization. You’ll then support these accounts throughout the validation and implementation stages. You’ll have a background in electrical or mechatronics engineering, a passion for technical challenges and a meticulous approach to getting work done. When we onboard a new client, at first, they’ll work with our sales development team. They assess and qualify the account, identify needs, establish fit and recommend potentially suitable products for the application. Your work starts once an account is qualified and ready to move forward with a technical evaluation of our products. At this point, responsibility for the account will transfer to you. You’ll then validate the initial product recommendations and work with the client on specifying and customizing a solution for their application. This involves connecting with our contract manufacturers in Asia to balance customer needs with product capabilities, manufacturability, and pricing. Once we’ve shipped sample units to the customer, you’ll closely work with them on testing and validating the units. You’ll inspect and root cause failures and address these through making modifications and design adjustments. Once a production standard design has been established, you’ll help our customers with final validation and arrange for any required certifications, as well as lifecycle, impact, temperature, ingress, or other final testing as per customer requests. You’ll then finalize the unit manufacturing documentation and requirements before handing the account off to the customer success/account management teams. Until they place their first regular production order, you’ll be the main point of contact for the accounts you own. This includes follow-ups, nurturing and addressing any customer concerns that arise. You’ll also identify other unmet customer needs for additional actuators, controls, and ancillary products.
