About The Position

Alpha Omega is looking for an Application Programmer to join our team supporting one of our government customer. The Application Programmer 1 is an entry-level software development position responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting applications and software solutions. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with Node.js, Python, and GitHub and will work closely with senior developers, analysts, and other technical team members to deliver reliable and maintainable applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality software.
  • Ability to understand existing code and make enhancements without disrupting current functionality.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and development techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a source-controlled development environment.
  • Experience developing applications with Node.js.
  • Experience programming with Python.
  • Working knowledge of Git and GitHub, including repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, and basic code-review practices.
  • Understanding of software development concepts, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a development team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Docusaurus or another Node.js web framework.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, test, and maintain applications using Node.js and Python.
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Use Git and GitHub for source-code management, branching, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative development.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA staff, and system administrators to resolve technical issues and deliver software enhancements.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices.
  • Document application functionality, technical processes, and development procedures.
  • Assist with application deployments and production support activities.
  • Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and development practices as required.
