We are seeking an experienced Application Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to advise and direct contractor teams responsible for managing enterprise and mission applications within a large, complex government IT environment. The ideal candidate will ensure the availability, performance, security, deployment, and sustainment of COTS, GOTS, and custom-built applications across the enterprise application portfolio. This role requires strong technical leadership, application administration expertise, and experience supporting mission-critical applications in secure, high-availability environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or five (5) recent years of documented experience relevant to this position
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience supporting application management, deployment, and sustainment in complex enterprise environments
  • Proven technical ability in managing, deploying, and sustaining COTS, GOTS, and custom-built applications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small to large applications in complex operational environments
  • Experience managing mission-critical applications configured to support resource relocation, failover, and continuity requirements
  • Experience performing event management for applications experiencing service impact or degradation
  • Knowledge of application management on Windows Server 2012 or higher and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 or higher
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work-related experience across areas such as networks, physical and virtual servers, systems management, public key infrastructure, IT customer support, VMware technologies, database administration, web server administration, application administration, application security, and project management
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments
  • Experience with web server and application administration, including IIS and Apache
  • Knowledge of current information technologies, computing platforms, and network systems, including cloud computing, server virtualization, unified communications, collaboration tools, and enterprise services
  • Strong understanding of application security, change management, configuration management, and IT service management best practices
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in mission-critical environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with Government leadership, technical teams, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-security government environment
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance preferred or ability to obtain one, depending on contract requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Computing Environment certification appropriate to the role is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and direct teams responsible for managing enterprise and mission applications
  • Support the deployment, configuration, sustainment, and optimization of COTS, GOTS, and custom-built applications
  • Ensure application availability, performance, reliability, and security across the enterprise portfolio
  • Manage small, medium, and large applications in complex IT environments
  • Support mission-critical applications configured to enable resource relocation and continuity of operations when required
  • Lead event management activities for applications experiencing service degradation or service impact
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, server, database, web services, and infrastructure-related issues
  • Manage and support applications hosted on Windows Server 2012 or higher and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 or higher
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, database, service desk, and Government stakeholders to resolve application issues and support operational requirements
  • Support application security, patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, and compliance activities
  • Administer and support web and application platforms, including IIS, Apache, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and related enterprise technologies
  • Support application lifecycle management, including release planning, change management, testing, deployment, sustainment, and retirement
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, application runbooks, standard operating procedures, system diagrams, and operational reports
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to application administrators and support personnel
  • Recommend improvements to enhance application performance, resiliency, security, and service delivery
