The Application Lead is responsible for maintaining application systems, providing strategic planning and leadership, and performing other miscellaneous duties. This role involves prioritizing and coordinating application support, managing production incidents, and ensuring the preventative maintenance of applications. The Application Lead also administers ServiceNow, communicates with customers regarding their work requests and application systems, and may be assigned Team Lead duties including resource planning and work assignments. They collaborate with Solution Delivery Managers to ensure appropriate skills are available for customer commitments, assign tasks, and provide monthly projections for resource allocation. Establishing service level agreements, participating in performance measurement systems, and ensuring negotiated service levels are met are key responsibilities. The role also involves coordinating documentation, leading the identification of system requirements, and devising procedures to solve problems. Strategically, the Application Lead identifies and facilitates improvements in system performance, reliability, and maintainability. They define near and long-term technology needs, analyze current systems for improvement opportunities, and plan for the future direction of applications. Participation in client planning sessions to improve business processes, making buy vs. build recommendations, and evaluating system options, risks, costs, and benefits are also part of the role. The Application Lead evaluates and selects application packages, provides technical agile team leadership, coaching, and mentoring, and reviews/approves design solutions. They receive high-level business requirements and develop detailed ones, prioritize efforts, and lead medium to large-sized projects. Overseeing unit testing, managing integration testing, and potentially facilitating vendor evaluation and contract negotiation are also included. Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders is crucial.
