About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Senior Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Driving core and new Industrial Adhesives and Tapes structural adhesives product penetration to win new bonding applications in the Industrial marketplace. Developing new application solutions aligned to customer needs. Lead voice of customer efforts to support new product development programs. Identify and communicate future market trends and product needs for structural adhesives. Support creation of database for FEA calculations of structural adhesives. Creating new application demonstration tools. Training customers, sales reps, and international colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Four (4) years laboratory environment experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
  • All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M. This agreement lays out key terms on using 3M Confidential Information and Trade Secrets. It also has provisions discussing conflicts of interest and how inventions are assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) plus year experience working with adhesives
  • Proficient in adhesive test methods and quality systems
  • Experience in adhesive dispensing/automation equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills
  • Strong people skills and ability to influence, collaborate, and work with cross-functional team
  • Self-directed and internally motivated with proven leadership skills
