About The Position

Kentro is hiring for Journeyman Application Engineer to support the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) under the USSOCOM EDAT contract. This role focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and sustaining mission-critical applications that support Special Operations Forces (SOF). The engineer will work within an Agile DevSecOps environment to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions aligned with Zero Trust and DoD enterprise standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–7 years of experience in application development, engineering, or related role
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience with application frameworks and modern development tools
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and system integration
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or DoD Cloud environments)
  • Active Secret clearance required (TS/SCI preferred)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting USSOCOM, USASOC, or other DoD environments
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and implementation
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework) processes
  • Experience with secure coding practices and application security tools

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-level applications supporting USASOC mission systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, cybersecurity engineers, system administrators, and mission stakeholders
  • Support full software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Integrate applications with cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure, DoD environments)
  • Implement DevSecOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure code deployment
  • Ensure applications meet DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF and Zero Trust architecture principles
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application performance, scalability, and security issues
  • Support system integration, API development, and data exchange between systems
  • Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and configuration management
  • Assist with deployment, system upgrades, and sustainment activities
