About The Position

WEG Electric Corp. is seeking an Application Engineer for its Commercial Motors business. The role coordinates expertise and recommendations from cross-functional teams in response to customer application and performance inquiries concerning induction and EC motors. The engineer works with sales teams and sophisticated customers to translate requirements into product specifications or designs and provide techno-commercial proposals. The position also helps resolve product issues at customer sites and in the field, contributes customer and application insights to product engineering and New Product Development, captures the voice of the customer, and develops product specifications. The engineer translates customer needs into manufacturing requirements and coordinates testing and qualification of products in customer applications. Requirements

Electrical Engineering education or equivalent related experience.
At least 1 year of engineering experience in field sales, customer support, design, or manufacturing in the equipment manufacturing industry, providing techno-commercial offers to field sales and customers.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate working relationships with personnel at all levels within and outside the organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivation and strong customer-focused behavior.
Ability to interpret customer specifications and engineering drawings.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Nice To Haves

An advanced degree is preferred.
Experience in the electric motors or rotating machines industry is a plus.
Knowledge of SAP or another ERP system.

Responsibilities

Coordinate cross-functional expertise and recommend solutions for customer inquiries about applications and performance of induction and EC motors in the commercial motors field.
Work with sales teams and sophisticated customers to translate customer requirements into product specifications or designs and provide techno-commercial proposals.
Help resolve product issues at customer sites and in the field in collaboration with customers and field sales teams.
Provide application and customer-requirement input to product engineering and New Product Development to design or improve products with consideration for manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.
Lead voice-of-customer capture and development of product specifications.
Translate customer needs into manufacturing requirements.
Coordinate testing and qualification of products in customer applications.
