About The Position

The electric utility industry is undergoing unprecedented transformation driven by grid modernization, renewable energy integration, electrification, data center growth, and infrastructure investment. Siemens is helping utilities and energy providers build a smarter, more reliable, and resilient grid. We are looking for an Application Engineer - Utility Power Systems to support our Generator Breaker and Outdoor Distribution Breaker business across North America. In this customer-facing role, you will work with utilities, EPCs, power producers, renewable developers, and consulting engineers to deliver innovative medium-voltage solutions that improve reliability, safety, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in applications engineering, proposal engineering, utility engineering, power systems, project engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Experience reviewing one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and project specifications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers and project stakeholders.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medium-voltage switchgear, breakers, transformers, substations, protection and control systems, or SCADA integration.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and utility industry standards.
  • Experience supporting utility, generation, transmission, or renewable energy projects.
  • Previous customer-facing engineering, applications, or proposal experience.
  • Knowledge of value engineering and lifecycle optimization concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the technical advisor for generator breaker and outdoor distribution breaker applications up to 38kV.
  • Partnering with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and power producers to develop customer-focused technical solutions.
  • Reviewing specifications, one-line diagrams, and system requirements to create competitive proposals and system recommendations.
  • Leading technical presentations, design reviews, and customer discussions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and sales teams to deliver differentiated Siemens solutions.
  • Supporting grid modernization projects by helping customers improve reliability, resiliency, and lifecycle performance.
