ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide technical support and application expertise for Partial Discharge diagnostics, including on-site and remote customer support. Support PD testing and analysis for power system apparatus such as: Transformers, Switchgear (AIS & GIS), rotating machines, cables and other high-voltage assets. Conduct customer visits, field demonstrations, commissioning activities, and troubleshooting of PD measurement systems. Deliver customer training and product consultation on: PD theory and interpretation, diagnostic methodologies, data analysis, reporting, and asset condition assessment. Collaborate with sales engineers by providing technical pre-sales and post-sales support, including demonstrations and workshops. Coordinate technical issues with customers, sales teams, and internal engineering groups. Contribute to the development of: Application notes, technical documentation, training materials, conference papers and presentations (as experience grows). Provide structured feedback to product management regarding field experience, customer needs, and application improvements. Support other primary testing technologies. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong interest in power systems, substations, and high-voltage diagnostics. Foundational understanding of Partial Discharge theory or demonstrated interest in developing PD expertise. Ability to present products, technologies and test methodologies to technicians, engineers, supervisors, managers and executives via telephone, email, visits, exhibits or webinars. Excellent written, speech and presentation skills in English required. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Manual dexterity required for occasional lifting of equipment and performing hands-on field work. A solid working knowledge of MS Office – especially Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint. Reputable business and work ethics and personal character. Goal and team oriented – willingness to work collectively with others to achieve corporate, regional and personal goals. Knowledge and understanding of the organization and business processes employed by electric power companies, government agencies, manufacturers and industrial consumers of bulk power in the North America market. Creative, innovative thinking and solutions oriented. Willingness to travel (up to 50%), primarily within the USA and Canada, typically for trips of up to one week. Occasional international travel may be required, including less frequent extended stays. WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS For entry level 0–3 years of experience in power systems, electrical engineering, or related fields. Internship, co-op, or academic exposure to substations, high-voltage testing, or diagnostics is a strong asset. Demonstrated interest in Partial Discharge diagnostics or asset condition monitoring. For intermediate level 3–6+ years of experience in power systems, substation testing, field diagnostics, or utility/OEM/consulting environments. Hands-on exposure to high-voltage testing and diagnostic methods. Experience with PD measurements and interpretation is a strong asset, but advanced expertise is not required. Experience in power systems, especially in the field of Primary/ High-Voltage testing and field diagnostics. Including, but are not limited to: Power Factor (PF), Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA), Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Dielectric Frequency Response Analysis (DFR), and Partial Discharge (PD) is considered an asset. Proven experience in the utility, OEM or consulting services is preferred. Sales experience in selling testing equipment, testing services, instrumentation or apparatus for the electric power industry are a plus. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics Engineering or a closely related discipline (required). Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is a strong asset but not required. For applicants in Canada, registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or engineering graduate working toward P.Eng, or eligible to obtain registration, is considered a strong asset.
