About The Position

As a key member of Vanguard’s MarTech team, this role provides intermediate-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. It supports backend performance optimization, data integration, documentation, and secure development practices. This role also provides an opportunity to work on MarTech Platforms and AI development, enablement, and adoption. Vanguard’s MarTech team builds and operates modern, cloud-based marketing technology platforms that enable personalized, scalable, and data-driven client experiences. The team is highly results-oriented, partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions that directly impact client engagement, growth, and satisfaction. Through a strong engineering culture, MarTech transforms marketing strategy into measurable outcomes for millions of Vanguard clients.

Requirements

Minimum of three years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience with database design, SQL, and data optimization techniques for high-performance applications.
Familiarity with API development, integration, and third-party software integration.
Must have skills: AWS
Proficiency in Agile, Confluence, JIRA.
Aptitude for continuous process improvement for process flows/workflows.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers and business stakeholders.
Expert in debugging in AWS and legacy systems using modern tools.
Proficiency in Agile Monitoring/refining dashboards, SLOs, and solving known problems by following playbooks.

Responsibilities

Provides intermediate level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.
Translates technical specifications into code for moderately complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.
Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
Follows software development methodology. Follows development architecture standards.
Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Participates in systems analysis activities.
Understands client business functions and technology needs. Understands Vanguard's tools, technologies, and applications/databases, including those that interface with business area and systems.
Learns and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Contribute to optimizing system performance through efficient database design and code enhancements to support scalability.
Support the integration and maintenance of data pipelines between APIs and backend systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Maintain and update software documentation for backend components, highlighting logic, processes, and architecture.
Apply intermediate knowledge of backend system security and data protection best practices during development.
