About The Position

Woodward's Industrial Product Division in Windsor, Colorado is seeking a Level 2 or 3 Engineer with expertise in Human Machine Interface (HMI) development and integration. The position is focused on designing, programming, testing, and supporting HMI solutions using platforms such as Ignition, iFIX, and Qt, while developing operator interfaces that integrate seamlessly with turbine and plant control systems in Military Marine applications. The engineer is expected to have strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus and OPC, networking and enabling reliable data exchange between controllers, HMIs, and third-party equipment. Additionally, the role involves the creation, configuration, and maintenance of computer system images in both Windows and Linux environments, supporting deployment, validation, and lifecycle management of control system hardware. Success in this position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, the ability to lead design reviews and customer interactions, and experience delivering robust, validated software and HMI solutions for complex marine automation applications.

Requirements

4 Year Bachelors BS degree
Relevant experience in a similar role
GE LM engine control experience.
Naval control system experience, propulsion and power management.
HMI experience with iFix, Ignition, and/or QT.
Modbus and OPC communication protocol experience.
4 Year Bachelors BS degree AND 4+ years equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Competent understanding of application software to support test setups and debug recommendations and may support small changes.
Evaluates technical problems by examining various factors and data, developing and implementing effective solutions under guided direction.
Supports technical content in proposal creation, contributes to product specifications, software, and application literature. Promotes and implements process improvements.
Carries out a range of technical tasks and projects, resolving moderately complex issues using current technologies and established procedures.
Utilizes knowledge of key business drivers and company processes to inform technical decisions and align projects with organizational goals.
Fully proficient with application software and associated operator interface/HMI software to support test setups, debug recommendations, and software changes.
Identifies and resolves intricate technical challenges by analyzing multiple information sources and applying innovative solutions.
Supports the commercial group in proposal creation, technical support of commercial offers, and customer presentations. Creates product specifications, software and application literature for Minor Scope Projects/Systems.
Leads small to medium sized engineering projects, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve project objectives.
Guides the design and implementation of complex application systems, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
