About The Position

Aro Homes is seeking an experienced, hands-on Application Engineer to serve as the engineering presence in the field. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between precision-engineered homes designed in a factory and their actual assembly on construction sites. The engineer will be responsible for addressing questions, conflicts, and unforeseen site conditions that arise during assembly, ensuring that all issues are resolved promptly and documented. This is a problem-solving position that requires fluency in reading architectural, structural, and MEPF documentation, understanding interdisciplinary impacts, and making necessary edits to drawings, BOMs, and work orders. The role also involves feeding field realities back into the product development process to prevent recurring issues. The position is field-based, requiring daily time on active job sites in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, regular time at the Mountain View office, and periodic visits to the Sacramento plant.

Requirements

5+ years in construction, field engineering, or a closely related role.
Fluency in reading architectural, structural, and MEP construction documents.
Ability to understand and work across architectural, structural, and MEPF disciplines.
Proven track record of proactively chasing answers and closing out tasks.
Strong Bluebeam skills.
Comfort working with BIM viewers, BOMs, and structured documentation systems.
Clear and fast written and verbal communication skills for interacting with crews, subcontractors, and engineers.

Nice To Haves

Time as a field engineer, superintendent, APM, or project engineer at a builder or GC.
Revit or Onshape exposure.
Offsite, modular, or production homebuilding experience.
Willingness to provide support across the company beyond specific domain expertise.

Responsibilities

Serve as the first-line engineering response for superintendents and crews, providing answers or escalating issues within a committed timeline.
Diagnose and determine fixes for site conditions by evaluating architectural, structural, and MEPF scopes.
Execute redlines in Bluebeam, correct Bills of Materials (BOMs) and work orders, and update Field Installation Drawings (FIDs) and Field Kits.
Propagate changes to all affected homes to ensure documentation is current.
Triage issues requiring a discipline owner or engineering judgment, handing them off with full field context and tracking them to resolution.
Convert recurring field issues into documented change requests with supporting evidence (photos, context) and advocate for field priorities within engineering.
Verify that implemented changes effectively resolve issues in subsequent homes.
Provide on-site support during critical stages like module setting to ensure the schedule is maintained.
